The SMITour Final Conference, the culminating event for the SMart Industrial Tourism in the Mediterranean project, is set to take place in Rijeka, Croatia, from November 11, 2025. This comprehensive two-day event is designed not only to celebrate the project’s achievements but also to share its lasting legacy and lay the groundwork for future collaboration in the sector.
Main and open to interested stakeholders and audiences live event will start on the November 11th with official welcome speeches from the dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business in Rijeka, representatives of the Tourist Board, and the City of Rijeka. This will set the stage by highlighting the local context and the importance of industrial tourism to the host city. The agenda will then transition to a broader European perspective, with presentations from key figures of the Interreg Euro-MED and Community4Tourism initiatives, emphasizing the project’s role within a wider collaborative framework.
Central to the conference will be a detailed presentation of the SMITour project itself, delivered by the Municipality of Prato as project lead partner. Attendees can expect to gain insights from a series of dynamic keynote speeches and a lively panel discussion on smart industrial tourism. This session will be a key moment for dialogue, bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders and experts, including confirmed panelist Damir Krešić from the Institute for Tourism in Zagreb, along with representatives from the project’s partner regions (Catalunya, Prato, Athens, and Maribor) to foster a rich exchange of ideas and best practices.
The SMITour final event will culminate ina dedicated session to present the project’s tangible outcomes. Attendees will be introduced to the final project results, a collection of key findings and accomplishments achieved throughout the initiative. This session will also unveil the project’s roadmaps and action plan, providing a clear, forward-looking strategy for implementing the developed concepts and ensuring the sustainability of smart industrial tourism in the region.
