To further our investigation into the dynamic field of industrial tourism, our Slovenian partner, E-Zavod, is organising an engaging "Innovation Camp with workshops" in Maribor on June 11th. This event, themed "Challenges and Opportunities of Industrial Tourism in Slovenia and the Mediterranean region", will provide a focused lens on the advancements and potential of industrial tourism within the broader Mediterranean area.
Organised within the Regional Development Agency for Podravje - Maribor premises – the event will feature keynote speeches from leading sustainable and industrial tourism experts. Speakers will share their perspectives and experiences. We will also delve into the general aspects of industrial tourism in Slovenia and explore the intersection of industrial heritage and digital technologies in creating innovative tourism products.
A key component of the event will be interactive dialogue tables within the Innovation Camp structure involving local stakeholders and project partners. These sessions will focus on practical strategies for developing industrial tourism activities and products, leveraging SMART technologies to redefine existing industrial spaces and locations in Slovenia, and enhancing visitor experiences through specific case studies. Participants will engage in focused discussions firstly, the practical development of industrial tourism activities and products, utilising different tools; secondly, the strategic application of SMART technologies to reimagine existing industrial spaces and identify potential new locations within Slovenia, with a focus on enhancing the visitor journey; and thirdly, the critical examination and improvement of specific industrial tourism case studies and pilot locations. These tables offer a unique opportunity to contribute to tangible outcomes and network with fellow professionals.
The event will conclude with the presentation of preliminary results from these dynamic discussions. It will provide a valuable overview of the collective insights generated throughout the day.
