
Second joint annual forum of the sustainable tourism mission
The Second Joint Annual Forum of the Sustainable Tourism Mission, titled “Climate Adaptation in Tourism – Building Capacity and Policy Integration” is scheduled for November 21, 2024, from 9:00 to 11:15.
This event, part of the Sun&Blue Congress—Europe’s premier annual meeting on Tourism and the Blue Economy—aims to foster inspiration and aid in addressing climate change impacts within the Mediterranean Tourism ecosystem.
Regional tourism departments and DMOs will gain valuable insights on crafting climate action plans during a Capacity Building session. The forum will feature a policy debate on “Adapting and Mitigating Climate Change in Tourism: Strategies & Policies” showcasing perspectives from diverse stakeholders, including regional tourism networks, environmental organizations, corporate ocean responsibility advocates, and initiatives promoting sustainable blue economy development in the western Mediterranean.
Additionally, a session organized by the WestMED initiative will follow from 11:30 to 13:30, focusing on enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of the coastal and maritime tourism sector while marking the official launch of the technical group and hosting a hackathon for specific project proposals.
