The autumn season of industrial tourism appointments is set to begin on October 25th, inviting discovery of Prato and the largest textile district in Europe, a nucleus of sustainable fashion innovation.
Project TIPO – Turismo Industriale Prato is launching a series of new routes and activities, which will continue its mission of showcasing Prato’s identity and production through specialized itineraries, concerts, and workshops focused on circular economy principles. TIPO offers an exceptional opportunity to traverse history and modernity, delving into the narratives, sites, and architectural heritage that testify to the skill of master craftsmanship. These sites—venerated for labour, “manual intelligence,” and creative output—have defined the regional identity, establishing the area as a global reference point for industrial tourism.
Prato’s industrial tourism framework represents a demonstrable success story, confirmed by increasing public engagement. Evidence includes over 1,000 downloads of the TIPO mobile application, which enables autonomous exploration of the industrial heritage throughout the year, and the frequent observation of international visitor cohorts, such as the recent group from Finland sighted at the start of October. These metrics underscore the importance of Prato’s unique industrial character as a powerful driver for both tourism and culture.
For this new TIPO Tour season, the programme includes a much-anticipated factory concert, an event previously praised by attendees. This engagement will afford visitors the chance to pair quality musical performance with a tour of the splendid, recently established archive at Lanificio Ricceri, one of the district’s most enduring enterprises.
